THE MEETING OF COUNTY PHYSICAL PLANNING INSTITUTES WAS HELD ON THE SUBJECT: THE MONITORING AND REPORTING OF THE SITUATION IN THE SPACE

On Tuesday 20th 2023, a one-day meeting was held in Rijeka organised by the Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, Institute for Spatial Development on the topic: The monitoring and reporting of the situation in the space.

The meeting was opened with a welcome speech by Adam Butigan, Director of the Institute for Physical Planning of PGC, Bojan Linardić, Director of the Institute for Spatial Development of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, and Vojko Braut, the Deputy Prefect of Primorje-Gorski County.

The Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in cooperation with Euro Ekspertiza j.d.o.o. from Zagreb produced a study entitled Developmental indicators of the situation in the space, and it was presented at the one-day meeting. The study was created as a result of the need to analyse the existing system of reporting about the situation in the space and consider the possibility of its improvement. In the introductory part of the study, the goals and purpose of the production study are explained. In the second part of the study, both the quality elements of the Rulebook about the content and mandatory spatial indicators of the report about the situation in the space and its shortcomings, which make it difficult for the developers to collect, process, analyse and interpret the data necessary for reporting about the situation of the space, are presented. In addition to the review and evaluation of the existing Rulebook, and the chronology of the institutional environment, i.e. the activities of the institutions responsible for monitoring the situation in the study space, it contains concrete findings of the current situation and recommendations for improving the reporting system.

Considering that there is a need for changes and/or additions to the indicators that monitor the situation in the space, especially in the atmosphere of increasing demands for monitoring not only the UN's sustainable development goals but also indicators that monitor current trends at the national, regional and local level, holding this panel discussion is a contribution to the modernisation and improvement of the monitoring system in the space.

At the end of the panel discussion, the directors of the Institutes for Physical Planning and other participants were presented with the project of the PGC Institute entitled Spatial Identities of the Rural Settlements in Gorski Kotar and the information provided by the Institute for Spatial Development relating to the updated Register of Brownfield Areas
